High guard is when someone you are fighting has a there hands raised high to protect their head. Having the hands high leaves a small opening in the body. The design of the guard bag allows you to work on punches that land well on the high guard and body shots that are opened up by the high guard. In the MMA design the guard bag gets a leg extension. The leg extension is an excellent addition to those practicing against a Muay-Thai highguard. For example, the design of the high guard allows the person using the bag to practice throwing high knees in the clinch.
